Do you have questions about Cardisiography? Then take a look at our FAQ:

How much does a Cardisiography cost?

Cardisio is working intensively to establish the Cardisiography in the statutory health insurance system. The goal is to test new ways of care with every interested GP and to detect cardiac anomalies as early as possible and thus optimize the diagnostic pathways. With the already participating insurance companies, the costs are covered by the “Hausarzt+ Vertrag” or can be billed privately according to GOÄ. Alternatively, it can also be provided as an IGel self-pay service. Individual health services are services provided by doctors that patients have to pay for themselves. They are called “IGeL” or “self-pay services” for short. IGeL are an additional service. Patients are not obliged to accept them. However, the costs are covered in full or in part by most private health insurers or supplementary health insurers. Some health insurers also grant subsidies for preventive examinations or check-ups. In many cases, at the present time, the costs of up to approximately €165 must be borne by the patient.

How is a Cardisiography performed?

The booking of the appointment is done through the respective practice. Please arrive at the practice 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment. During the four-minute recording, five electrodes are attached to the body, similar to an ECG. No needles or syringes are inserted into the body. This makes Cardisiography risk-free and suitable for any adult, regardless of age or health condition. The recorded parameters are transmitted to the Cardisio server and, using an AI algorithm, processed into a report in minutes. A medically trained person then discusses the result with the patient.

Why should I have a Cardisiography?

Until now, quick and easy diagnosis of heart disease was hardly possible or only possible at great expense. Cardisiography is the first preventive examination that reliably detects heart diseases with the help of artificial intelligence. It enables an effective checkup of your heart – easily, quickly and precisely.

An ECG or stress ECG is only of limited value in detecting circulatory disorders in the heart muscle. Cardisiography indicates within a few minutes and with a very high accuracy whether the heart is healthy!

Cardisiography is as easy to use as an ECG, but measures the heart muscle in three-dimensional space. The measured values are evaluated by means of a special computer algorithm based on the possibilities of artificial intelligence. The evaluation quickly provides clarity as to whether the heart is diseased or whether a heart attack could be imminent.

What data is collected?

Our method attaches great importance to data protection: Only data that is absolutely necessary for the examination is recorded, e.g. age and weight. Other private data, such as name or address, are not entered and remain with your doctor. In addition, our servers are located in Germany and are therefore subject to German legal standards.

Why are heart problems usually diagnosed late?

Detecting heart disease at an early stage is difficult, as the symptoms are often ambiguous and frequently appear and disappear in alternation. A Cardisiography can help. Especially for:

  • People who have noticed symptoms and can’t place them: Should I see a doctor about this? Is it serious or not?
  • Athletes: Can something happen to me during high exertion, such as during a marathon?
  • Some of my family members have had heart attacks: How can I tell if I am also at risk?

What happens in case of a red finding?

Important to know: Even a red finding is not automatically an acute emergency, because it can now be actively prevented. If Cardisiography has found a patient with heart problems, the person is sent for further examinations, such as a cardiac MRI. This usually quickly finds the reasons for the disease. Timely diagnosis and good treatment with medication or minor surgery, can prevent serious consequences such as a heart attack, which is why preventive cardiac care is so important.

Can Covid-19 lead to heart disease?

Even comparatively mild courses of COVID-19 can leave damage to the hearts of those affected. More than 75% of the patients in a study in Frankfurt showed abnormalities in this area on closer examination. Of particular concern, the researchers found that these heart conditions were not dependent on other factors, such as existing pre-existing conditions or a particularly severe course of COVID-19; most patients had reported only mild to moderate symptoms from the disease. They see a need for further research on long-term consequences of COVID-19.[1]

Chinese researchers also consider it useful to examine the heart of recovered patients for possible sequelae. Especially since there are no long-term studies in this field yet.[2].

Therefore, it seems advisable in any case to have even mild symptoms clarified during a cardiological examination. Because problems with the heart are often hardly noticeable and those affected usually go to the doctor much too late.

Why is a heart-healthy diet so important?

You can do a lot to keep your heart healthy through your diet. Researchers have found that traditional eating habits in Mediterranean countries are particularly good for the heart. You will find detailed information about this in the following texts. The risk of a heart attack increases the more unhealthy one’s diet is. And even if not everyone succeeds in reducing high cholesterol levels or high blood pressure through diet alone, many manage to get by with less medication thanks to dietary changes.

A heart-healthy diet doesn’t have to be complicated if you stick to a few basic principles. Above all, it is important that you eat a balanced diet.

Is Cardisiography just a better ECG?

Cardisiography was developed primarily to help detect circulatory disorders (e.g., due to coronary artery disease, CAD), which are the cause of many myocardial infarctions. According to our studies, Cardisiography in particular achieves high sensitivity compared to noninvasive comparative methods. The technology used is much more advanced than that of an ECG. Cardisiography is an advancement based on vector cardiography combined with a neural network (AI). Each patient should weigh which path is right for them and their needs, preferably in consultation with a physician they trust.

Can Cardisiography replace a CT scan or catheter examination?

Cardisiography is primarily used for early detection of heart problems. According to our studies (https://cardis.io/de/studien/) in particular, Cardisiography achieves high sensitivity compared to the comparative non-invasive methods. The technology used is much more advanced than that of an ECG. Cardisiography is a further development based on vector cardiography in combination with a neural network (AI). Cardio-CTs or catheter examinations are usually used later in the diagnostic pathway. Which procedure is best for which patient on an individual basis can only be decided by a physician in consultation with the patient.

Can Cardisiography also detect myocarditis?

Myocarditis can cause various pathological problems in the heart, such as swelling or reduced blood flow. We have numerous examples in which myocarditis was registered as conspicuous on Cardisiography. However, the facts have not yet been validated by a clinical study. The next step would then be to clarify via imaging (e.g., MRI) whether it is myocarditis or something else, if necessary. If the CSG is normal, it can be assumed with a high degree of reliability that nothing is present. You should clarify with your doctor whether a Cardisiography is useful for you.

Can Cardisiography also detect coronary artery stenosis?

Narrowing of the coronary vessels may well have an effect on the electronic propagation of excitation in the heart. We have numerous examples in which narrowed coronary vessels were registered as conspicuous on Cardisiography. You should clarify with your doctor whether a Cardisiography is useful for you.

How often should I get a Cardisiography?

A general recommendation for this checkup would be to perform it every 3 years, like other screening methods. Or in case of acute symptoms, such as shortness of breath or pain, and especially after an illness, such as an infection. Whether and when a Cardisiography makes sense for you individually should be clarified in a discussion with a physician.
